This week British Airways launches two major initiatives heavily focused on its commitment to provide high levels of customer service excellence.

The first is a major new advertising campaign and the second relates to exciting new developments to the service style it uses with customers.

Both campaigns re-assert its leadership in the customer service field and link very closely to the revised BA Way, a summary of its corporate goals, customer promise and values.

Chief executive Willie Walsh said: “I’m also delighted to say that the content of both has been fashioned directly by the influence of our own people.”

The advertising campaign launches tomorrow (September 7) and features advertising in newspapers, magazines, online and on the radio. It includes a new TV ad that can be seen in the UK for the first time during tomorrow’s rugby World Cup coverage on ITV1 at around 8.45pm.

This TV advert shows 20 of the airline’s own people demonstrating their commitment to great service – something that customer feedback says is a key strength of BA’s brand and sets it apart.

As well as the focus on service, the overall campaign highlights other areas where British Airways excels such as its refreshed Club World cabin, ba.com, ongoing improvements in fuel efficiency and its network and schedule.

Personally I'd like to see some refreshing service. Some that is safe and secure, thoughtful, warm, responsible, professional, and British.

Just seen a new BA ad on TV, well before tonight's Rugby. I have to say, I've seen better. But there is supposedly a couple versions coming out. The one that just aired was BA cabin crew in Sydney ending with an air-to-air shot of a 744. Tag-line was 'Upgrade to BA'. No mention of ba.com though which I thought was odd.

Its was members from all departments of the airline!!! Im one of the lucky ones to have already seen the advert and i like it I think its very good. I wish id been one of the lucky ones to have gone out there!!!

Ditto to this, saw it on the Discovery Channel at around 7.16 pm. Its okay, but I have to agree with FLVILLA, I've seen better. I liked the end shot of the 744 in flight. Also saw the advert in The Times newspaper today, and am intrigued by the concept of the new Club Kitchen. Does this mean they are having a Kitchen on the aircraft, or that people can just help themselves to things from the galley as they wish?

I really like it!

I saw it on E4 during Hollyoaks, my friends thought I was sad talking about how nice the song was when it merged into the Flower Duet and how they have used that song in so many versions. Although they also said it was a nice advert from BA.

Lol. The criteria that BA wanted in terms of a filming location was: 1) Somewhere cosmopolitan. 2) A melting pot of nationalities. 3) Somewhere recognisable.

Personally I think London could have probably satisfied those three criteria quite nicely. But given that we are a global airline I can see the method in their madness. Oh yes, and apparently it was cheaper to film in OZ than in the uk  

Just not sure it is the ideal time to launch an ad with the slogan 'upgrade yourself to BA' with all the issues we have been having with baggage and our LHR hub infrastructure/delays etc though.

That ad makes me so proud to work for BA.

Its a great advert, and I love the new music. Mixing the old with the new, upgrading it as it were.

What with New Clubworld and T5 coming very soon, BA is going to be changing for the better.

And what a perfect way to start, than with what i think is one of the best BA adverts I have ever seen

Yes, it is a nice idea. IMHO BA live or die based upon crew performance, and BA crews tend to be outstanding or terrible, with nothing in between. (As for bags, let's not even go there.)

As a premium passenger, I feel that BA's key customer service problem is the total lack of consistency in customer service, both at the airport and on board. Flying with BA is a lottery, whereas other carrries like LX, AF, CX and SQ seem to offer a greater consistency in service levels. With these airlines, I know what to expect, and I get it, whereas flying BA is always something of a lottery. I am so tired of the attitude of certain BA crew who really think that they are doing you a favour.

I have also noticed that the catering in First has taken a nosedive. Their First product is verging on humdrum, and I really look forward to the revamp of First next year. Let's hope that this is something spectacular.

Despite the shots of Australia and the 744, I can't help feeling that the "upgrade to BA" concept is aimed at the burgeoning number of LCC passengers in the UK.

It is also disappointing that BA has shown such contempt for the regions in recent years.

FANTASTIC! One of the best airline adverts I've seen in a long time. In so many ways, it captures the essence of BA and reintroduces the UK to the world. THe best part about it, IMO, is the fact that real employees were used. What better way to empower the employees to have them showcase in a large scale the BA brand. Even though that is done on each and every flight and customer/staff interaction, the staff at BA should feel very proud to have this airing on TV. BTW - those are some sharp uniforms! I've always loved the BA unis.

They were good. I think the Flower Duet theme which is used towards the end in this advert was good, it suits the service side and long-haul part of the airline whereas the "Leaving on a jet plane" song suits the European routes and competitive fares side of BA. I think "Leaving on a jet plane" will be used again for the next advert that focuses ba.com.

Have just seen on TV tonight, British Airways new and latest TV campaign here in the UK...

The advert is very reminiscent of their classic 1989 "faces" advert and I think looks really good and professional. The airline uses their cabin crew as the face of the airline and shows its human side. I also really like the way the camera pans the aircraft and show off the 747 and the tail. That aircraft looks stunning, and I forgot how good looking that livery is!

I think this sort of advert will really draw people to them, who are fed up with LCC and that there is another choice.

There new Slogan is "Upgrade to British Airways".

Here is the TV ad, is this likely to be another classic?...

I think what's ironic is that the new marketing ad's will also include bits & pieces about BA's efforts in fuel efficiency. I'm sure flying all those people and the camera crews to SYD was very efficient lol.  Wink
